Social media reacts to Oklahoma QB Caleb Williams entering the transfer portal

The Sooners suffered yet another blow on Monday.

The hits keep coming for Texas’ Big 12 rival.

After the sudden departure of head coach Lincoln Riley to USC, Oklahoma’s football program has been in somewhat of a downward spiral. Several top prospects from both the 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes that were once committed to the Sooners have chosen to look elsewhere.

The hire of Brent Venables to take over for Riley was certainly a solid move, but the Sooners suffered yet another blow on Monday.

Star quarterback Caleb Williams announced via Twitter that he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal. It’s important to note that he did not remove the possibility of returning to Oklahoma, but it’s never a good sign for a player to return after entering the portal.

Williams will have numerous Power Five programs vying for his services. According to numerous reports, he is more focused on professional development rather than NIL deals.

Considering Williams torched the Longhorns as a true freshman in the Red River Rivalry last season, Texas fans are pleased that Williams could be with another program next season.
