The Philadelphia 76ers received some tough news on Wednesday as they found out that they would be down another point guard for a time. The Sixers found out that they will be missing Grant Riller for a couple of weeks.
Riller, who is on a two-way contract with the team, scored seven points on 3-for-5 shooting in Monday’s preseason loss to the Toronto Raptors. In the process, Riller suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee and he will undergo surgery. Per a team official, he will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks.
“It’s just part of life and basketball,” coach Doc Rivers told reporters at practice. “He’s upbeat about it, but still he’s a young guy trying to make the team. He played well yesterday, or whenever we played and now he’s out so it’s just one of the tough blows you have, but we like him a lot I could tell you that.”

Riller is a second-year player out of the College of Charleston after spending the 2020-21 season with the Charlotte Hornets. He is another player who can put the ball on the floor a bit and be a guy who can initiate the offense so this is a bit of a blow for them in the early going.
