Six Texas football players that could be on early award watch lists

Here’s six Texas Longhorns that could be on college football award watch lists for the 2021 season.

Fun fact, Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith and Joshua Moore are around the same size at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. I’m not trying to suggest that Texas’ junior receiver is on the same level as the Alabama legend, but considering he’s got Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood coaching and calling plays in a system favorable for receivers, it’s worth noting. Moore already has a connection with one of the quarterbacks in competition for the starting role next season, Casey Thompson, who tossed Moore two touchdowns in the Alamo Bowl victory.

Considering he only played in eight games last season is impressive when you dissect his 30 catches for 472 yards and nine touchdowns in what was largely a run-first offense. At 15.7 yards per catch in Sarkisian’s offense that emphasizes spreading the ball all around the field, don’t be surprised if Moore’s name starts to get attached to the Biletnikoff award before the season ends.
