The San Diego Padres (55-59) and the Seattle Mariners (61-52) wrap up a 2-game interleague series Wednesday at T-Mobile Park. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Padres vs. Mariners odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mariners lead 2-1

The Padres were blanked 2-0 in the series opener Tuesday, as they were limited to just 3 hits. San Diego has dropped 3 games in a row and has just 1 win in its last 5 games after a 5-1 run from July 28-Aug. 2. The Under result in the shutout loss halted a 4-0 run to the Over. San Diego was blanked for the first time since July 20 in Toronto.

The Mariners have won 6 in a row, and Seattle is just 2 games out of a wild-card spot in the American League. It was the 2nd shutout victory for the M’s in the past 9 games and the first shutout win at home since July 20 against the Minnesota Twins. The Under has cashed in 3 straight outings for the Mariners after a 4-0-1 run to the Over in the prior 5 contests.

Padres at Mariners picks and predictions

Prediction

Padres 5, Mariners 2

Moneyline

The PADRES (-135) are worth a look against the Mariners, as San Diego looks to gain the series split and get on the board after Tuesday’s embarrassing shutout setback.

The M’s are expected to recall Hancock for his major league debut, and he wasn’t exactly lightly the world afire for the Travelers in Double-A. He wasn’t bad, posting 11 wins, but he was hittable and the Padres should be able to take advantage of his nerves.

Run line/Against the spread

The PADRES -1.5 (+125) are worth playing on the run line.

San Diego has dropped 3 straight games, losing by an average of 4.7 runs per game. So playing the Padres either straight up or on the run line requires a bit of a leap of faith.

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-120) is the lean, but play a half-unit at best.

The Under (8.5) easily cashed in Tuesday’s series opener, halting a 4-0 Over run for the Padres.

The Mariners have cashed the Under in 3 in a row, averaging just 2.7 runs per game (RPG) on offense, while allowing a total of 4 runs (1.33 RPG), across the 3-game span. Go low, and feel confident in doing so, despite the rookie taking the mound for the home side.
