Mississippi State (16-7, 5-5 SEC) defeated the Lady Vols (17-9, 9-2 SEC), 91-90, in double overtime on Monday at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Mississippi.
The contest was the fourth multiple overtime game in Tennessee history.
Tennessee led, 81-78, after Jordan Walker converted a 3-point attempt early in the second overtime. The Lady Vols did not lead again.
Rickea Jackson converted 13-of-13 free-throw attempts for the Lady Vols. Jackson’s 100% effort tied a school free-throw record set by Gail Dobson on March 1, 1975 against Union.
Tennessee’s 37 made free throws ties for the third-most in school history (37 versus Vanderbilt on Jan. 19, 1997). The Lady Vols’ 44 attempts tied an effort versus Alabama on March 6, 1994. The 84.1 percentage set a season high for the Lady Vols.
