Report: Ohio State basketball to part ways with head coach Chris Holtmann

It has been reported that Holtmann has been let go of this Buckeye responsibilities

It has been a trying last few seasons for Ohio State basketball and it finally came to the decision to let head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] go according to a report by The Field of 68.

After another loss last night, this time at the hands of Wisconsin, it’s 16th consecutive on the road, the conclusion was simple, Holtmann needed to be dismissed. His Ohio State tenure was semi-successful, as he started off his career in 2017 with five consecutive seasons of over 20 wins. Aside from the COVID-19 season, they made the NCAA Tournament in every one of those years.

That past two have not gone well nearly as well, as the Buckeyes finished 16-19 last season and are trending in the wrong direction once again, as they currently have a 14-11 record, just 4-10 in conference play.

It remains to be seen who will take his spot for the remainder of the season, but this was the right move in firing Holtmann. He seemingly has lost this team, one that has more than enough talent to make it to the NCAA Tournament.
