Report card: Handing out grades for TaylorMade Driving Relief

The TaylorMade Driving Relief skins game provided a chance for the Golfweek Grader to break out the red pen once more before summer begins.

The least-known member of the foursome coming into the day, casual golf fans got a taste of what this 21-year-old can do.

While he walked up the 14th fairway, Wolff admitted to Golf Channel’s Steve Sands that he was nervous before the start of the event. That did not last too long.

“Hey Dustin, is this a waste bunker or … never mind,” he heckled after hitting into a dune on the third hole. The jab at Johnson referred Johnson’s penalty at the 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits after he grounded his club in a bunker and subsequently missed getting into a playoff for the Wanamaker trophy.

Aside from slinging a few barbs, Wolff brought his power to the broadcast on the two long-drive holes. He won them both, outdistancing both McIlroy and Johnson, two heavy hitters, by knocking a 356-yard tee shot on the second and a 368-yard bomb on the 14th hole.

Wolff nearly stole the show by hitting an outstanding shot in the closest-to-the-pin content. Not too shabby for a guy who was still in college a year ago.
