Report Card: Grading LSU’s loss against Auburn

After suffering the program’s worst defeat since 1996, there was plenty of blame to go around for LSU after its loss at Auburn.

Special Teams: C+

A week after returning a kickoff for a touchdown in Tiger Stadium, Trey Palmer almost did it again at Auburn, but he was unable to slip past a diving Auburn kicker. Oops.

The special teams for LSU was essentially a non-factor. Palmer had three kickoff returns, with his best return just referenced being his best of the game. Auburn punted five times but LSU never got a chance to return any of them. Kicker Cade York made a 50-yard field goal and missed one from 54 yards. Nobody should blame a college kicker much for missing from 54 yards.

Punter Zach von Rosenberg had a busy afternoon with seven punts averaging a distance of 48.9 yards. Rosenberg had four punts travel at least 50 yards and two punts drop inside the 20-yard line.
