Dallas has been active with their roster leading up to their regular season finale in Washington. Not only str the Cowboys signing former starting right tackle La’el Collins to the practice squad, but they also will add former Cowboy linebacker Damien Wilson. These are among four players expected to join the club once they create room on the 16-man squad.

Collins signed with Dallas back in 2015 and started 71 games along the offensive line. Collins accounted for $8.1 million against the Cowboys salary cap this season after the team released him back in March 2022. His practice squad salary goes unaccounted for as only the top 51 salaries in the NFL count against the cap.

Wilson signed with Kansas City and wound up winning and losing a Super Bowl in his two years in the Midwest. Wilson suited up for 17 games with the Carolina Panthers in 2022, with five starts. His path to seeing the field will hinge on how quickly he can adapt to the scheme.

They did not stop there as the team is also adding wideout Racey McMath and running back SaRodorick Thompson.

McMath was a sixth-round draft pick by Tennessee back in 2021. The former LSU product played in five games this season catching two passes for 40 yards.

Thompson is a rookie undrafted free agent who started with the Seahawks and was signed to their original practice squad after failing to make the initial 53-man roster. All four players will be eligible to practice once the official announcement is made.

Dolphins worked out a trio of WRs on Tuesday

Miami held WR workouts on Tuesday.

While the Miami Dolphins are about to begin their week off, that doesn’t mean the front office and coaching staff are slowing down their work.

On Tuesday, the team welcomed in three free agent wide receivers for workouts – Jacob Copeland, Racey McMath and Anthony Schwartz.

Schwartz, 23, was a third-selection of the Cleveland Browns back in 2021 following a collegiate career at Auburn and a high school career at the local American Heritage School. In 25 career games, he’s recorded 14 receptions for 186 yards and a touchdown as well as 96 rushing yards and a score on the ground. He’s also contributed as a kick returner, averaging 21.5 yards per return on 15 attempts.

McMath, 24, was a sixth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2021 out of LSU. He spent two years with the Titans before spending time on the Indianapolis Colts practice squad this year. In 14 career games, he’s recorded four receptions for 48 yards.

Copeland, 24, went undrafted in this year’s draft after splitting time between Florida and Maryland in college. He’s spent time with the Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings since then, but he’s yet to see the field in a regular-season game.

While Miami didn’t sign any of the three immediately following the workout, they are names to keep an eye on in the future because they could be signed if there’s an injury at the position.

Colts make slew of roster moves

The Colts made a slew of roster moves Tuesday.

The Indianapolis Colts made several roster moves both to the active roster and practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.

Following the news that defensive tackle Grover Stewart will miss the next six games due to suspension, the team added a player to the active roster while making a few changes to the practice squad.

Here’s a look at the moves the Colts made Tuesday:

Colts sign former Titans WR Racey McMath to practice squad

Former Titans WR Racey McMath is staying in the AFC South.

After being let go during Tuesday’s final cuts, former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Racey McMath has found a new home within the AFC South.

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Thursday that McMath has signed to practice squad. The LSU product had a two-year stint in Tennessee after being drafted by the team in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Despite having all the physical tools you could ever want in a wide receiver, McMath was never able to put it all together from a consistency or health standpoint to maximize his full potential.

The 6-foot-3, 217-pound wide receiver, who ran a 4.3 40 time during his pro day, made most of his contributions on special teams, only tallying four catches for 48 yards on offense over 14 career games in Tennessee.

McMath will now try to revitalize his career in Indy, where the opportunity is certainly there for the taking on a Colts team that only has four receivers on the active roster as of this writing.

Colts make several moves to roster, practice squad

The Colts made several more moves Thursday, including the addition of DE Jacob Martin to the active roster.

The Indianapolis Colts continued to tweak the active roster and practice squad Thursday ahead of the Week 1 opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

After making additional moves following roster cuts Wednesday, the Colts were back at it Thursday. They added another edge rusher to the mix while parting ways with a depth offensive lineman.

They also added a cornerback and tight end to the practice squad while releasing a linebacker and cornerback to make room.

Here are the moves the Colts made Thursday:

Colts sign 17 players to the practice squad

Here’s a look at the initial practice squad for the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts have made their initial roster cuts to get down to 53 players, and now they’ve filled out their practice squad.

The team announced Wednesday that they signed 16 players to the practice squad, and it was reported by Jordan Schultz of The Score that they added an extra player.

It should be noted that the Colts essentially have 17 spots because Marcel Dabo gives the team a roster exemption as a part of the International Player Pathway Program.

Here are the specifics of the practice squad:

  • 16 players
  • Up to 10 players with two or fewer accrued seasons
  • Up to six veterans (no limit on how many years in the league)
  • Practice squad players may be elevated for gamedays a maximum of three times in a season

There will be constant movement on the practice squad throughout the season, but this is what the initial group looks like.

Report: Titans waiving wide receiver Racey McMath

The Titans are reportedly waiving 2021 sixth-round pick and WR Racey McMath.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly parting ways with 2021 sixth-round pick and wide receiver, Racey McMath.

The news comes from NFL insider Jordan Schultz. McMath will now be subject to waivers on Wednesday at noon ET. If he clears, the Titans will have an opportunity to bring him back on the practice squad or even the active roster if a spot opens up and they want him in that capacity.

For now, McMath is the third member of the Titans’ 2021 draft class to be let go in the past few years, along with wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick and safety Brady Breeze.

McMath started off the preseason strong with a team-high 53 yards against the Chicago Bears, but he failed to build on that the rest of the way after having a quiet training camp.

We did not have McMath on our final 53-man roster, instead giving the WR6 spot to rookie Kearis Jackson. We’ll see if that comes to fruition in mere hours.

Titans camp preview at WR: Locks, competitions, 53-man prediction

In our latest installment of Titans training camp previews, we take a look at the very shaky wide receiver situation.

As we continue to inch closer to training camp, the next installment of our 2023 preview series for the Tennessee Titans comes at wide receiver, a position that has been a hot topic of conversation this offseason.

After having arguably the worst wide receiver corps. in the NFL in 2022, the Titans did basically nothing to address their issue in free agency and the draft. As a result, they’ve found a way to be worse off.

Tennessee rightly parted ways with their lackluster leading receiver from last season, Robert Woods, but only added Chris Moore and seventh-round pick, Colton Dowell, two additions that were hardly adequate for what this team really needed, which was a wide receiver who could make a sizeable, guaranteed impact.

The Titans still have an opportunity to improve the group in a big way with their pursuit of DeAndre Hopkins, but seemingly putting all their eggs in that basket is far too risky.

As we wait for Hopkins to make a decision, we can only preview the guys the Titans currently have on their offseason roster. Here’s a look at who the roster locks and players on the bubble are, as well as a look at the competitions set to take place and a 53-man prediction.

Titans’ best and worst PFF grades, stats from Week 17

The best and the worst of the Titans from Week 17, via Pro Football Focus grades and stats.

To get a more in-depth idea of how the Tennessee Titans played in Week 17, it’s time to take a look at the Pro Football Focus grades and stats they compiled against the Dallas Cowboys.

We start with the highest overall grade. on the team. Taking the top spot on either side of the ball is unsurprisingly safety Kevin Byard (86.0), who came up with a pair of interceptions in the losing effort.

On the offensive side of the ball, the highest grade was earned by running back Jonathan Ward (79.5), but he didn’t meet our 10-snap minimum.

Behind him was wide receiver Racey McMath, whose 78.0 was the highest of any offensive player who saw at least 10 snaps. The LSU product had one catch for 39 yards.

With the highest overall grades out of the way, we now move to Titans grades in other facets, as well as taking a look at how the offensive line, pass-rush and secondary performed.

Titans place David Long on IR among several roster moves

The Titans made a slew of roster moves ahead of Sunday, including placing LB David Long on injured reserve.

The Tennessee Titans made a plethora of roster moves prior to their AFC South showdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14 on Sunday.

Undoubtedly the most impactful of the transactions was Tennessee placing starting linebacker David Long Jr. on the injured reserve list with a hamstring injury.

The West Virginia product will now miss at least the next four games, which means he won’t be eligible to return until Week 18, but that also allows him to return for the Titans’ playoff run as long as the team doesn’t choke that away over the next month.

With Long on injured reserve, now both of the Titans’ starting linebackers are on the list after Zach Cunningham was placed on it last month.

Aside from that move, the Titans promoted three players to their 53-man roster, activated two players off injured reserve, parted ways with two other players, and elevated a pair of from the practice squad for Sunday’s game.

Those moves are as follows:
