Ohio State receiver Jameson Williams announced his transfer to Alabama on his Twitter account Monday.

We were all a little shocked when one of the top receivers on Ohio State’s depth chart entered the transfer portal last week. As a starter last season, Jameson Williams was expected to compete to be in the two-deep again, but instead pulled the ripcord and decided to look at other opportunities.

The news was quick on the programs he was looking at, including arch-rival Michigan, but now we know the exact destination he’ll be looking to make an impact at, and it is none other than the Alabama Crimson Tide. Williams announced his decision on Twitter Monday morning.

We can’t reiterate what a curious move this appears to be. It makes you think that some of the younger receivers may have impressed even more than we thought and that Williams saw the writing on the wall. You of course never know what’s going on behind the scenes with relationships, etc., but we do want to take this moment to wish the 6-foot, 2-inch, 188-pounder from St. Louis well.

It did appear as though Williams would not be a starter any longer with the emergence and further development of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but he’ll maybe get a chance to slot into Alabama’s starting lineup with the departure of both Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith.
