The Sixers entered the game with an 0-18 record and were one loss away from breaking the 2009-10 New Jersey Nets record for the worst start in NBA history. On top of that, it was the final game for Kobe Bryant in Philadelphia as he was set to retire at the end of the season so there was a lot of hype around the game.

Philadelphia used the hype around the game as fuel to pick up their first win of the season 103-91 to not only stop themselves from breaking the Nets record for the worst start but to also put an end to their ridiculous 28-game losing skid. Covington led the Sixers with 23 points and Jerami Grant and Noel had 14 points each while Bryant had 20 points in his final game. He received a standing ovation from the Wells Fargo Center crowd.
