Nate Oats and his No. 14-ranked Alabama Men’s Basketball team opened the 2021-22 season tonight in Coleman Coliseum against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
It was a packed house and they didn’t disappoint those in attendance or viewing from home in the slightest.
It was a complete performance for the Crimson Tide from start to finish in a commanding 93-64 win.
Five-star freshman JD Davison made his debut and made some outstanding plays in his first official game in crimson. His court vision was spectacular as evidenced by his incredible passing. He scored 12 points, including a couple of powerful dunks, while recording six rebounds and six assists.
Keon Ellis led the Tide in points with 18 while also pulling down nine rebounds and three assists.
Juwan Gary got significant playing time and certainly played at a high level game-long. He scored 12 and led the team in rebounds with 10.
The Crimson Tide shot 50% from the field and 40% from behind the 3PT line. They went 16-23 from the free throw line.
Defensively, Alabama was stingy with nine steals and two blocks. They held the Bulldogs to just 38% FG shooting and 23% from three.
Next up for the Crimson Tide men’s basketball squad is a home game against South Dakota State Friday at 7:00 p.m. CST.
The Alabama women’s team joined the fun, as well, absolutely demolishing Charleston Southern 109-32.
The Crimson Tide women’s squad take on Tulane on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. CST.
