Who are some of the league’s best young quarterbacks? Pro Football Focus recently set out to answer that very question and it just so happens that Daniel Jones of the New York Giants cracked the top five.

On a list of the best quarterbacks under the age of 25, Jones checked in at No. 5 overall behind Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson.

5. DANIEL JONES, NEW YORK GIANTS

Age: 24
Career PFF grade: 77.2
2021 grade: 77.2

The Giants might have lost more games than they have won with Jones at quarterback, but he has quietly put together a nice resume so far. The Duke product has 14 games graded above 70.0 — although the Giants are just 10-23 with him as the starter. It’s possible a Giants move away from coach Joe Judge and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett might be the best option moving forward for Jones and the team.

Joe Judge is not going anywhere, but it’s entirely possible Jason Garrett picks up a head coaching job and moves on from the team. But will that make Jones a better quarterback?

Danny Dimes did perform better (sans turnovers) under Pat Shurmur than he has Judge/Garrett, but that may simply be a product of a new system and an injury-riddled supporting cast.

The bottom line is that Jones has made impressive strides despite the constant change and a much weaker supporting cast than his counterparts. If he was given the talent that surrounds Murray in Arizona or Jackson in Baltimore, the sky would be the limit.
