Ezekiel Elliott’s mom called out Skip Bayless for throwing away her son’s jersey

It needed to be said.

Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless has built a career as a talking head on the basis of two things: his irrational LeBron James hatred and unabashed love for the Dallas Cowboys.

Just as Stephen A. Smith stages weekly meltdowns about the Knicks, Bayless needs to visibly show his disappointment whenever the Cowboys let him down. It’s all theatrics. But Ezekiel Elliott’s mother, Dawn Elliott, is calling Skip’s bluff.

Shortly after the Cowboys lost Sunday’s home game against the Vikings, Bayless posted a video of himself taking an Elliott No. 21 jersey and tossing it into a trashcan before walking into another room.

Of course, this entire reaction was staged. Bayless went through the effort to preemptively set up a camera in order to show himself “throwing away” the Elliott jersey. In all likelihood, Bayless took the jersey out of the trash once the video ended. Elliott had just 47 yards on 20 carries in the loss.

Once that video hit Twitter, Dawn had her own response to Bayless. She doesn’t want to see him wearing that No. 21 jersey again.

Thank you, Dawn. Someone had to say it.

It was so plainly obvious that Bayless was trying to make a disingenuous statement about Elliott’s off night. The next time the Cowboys running back has a big game, you can bet that Bayless will pretend his jersey toss never happened.

At least now the Elliott family will be watching for it.

A lot can change for both Webb and the Georgia program in three years. This will be interesting to monitor moving forward.

Bowling Green-Miami (Ohio) odds: RedHawks big favorites over Falcons

Previewing Wednesday’s Bowling Green Falcons at Miami (Ohio) RedHawks sports betting odds and lines, with college football picks and tips.

The MAC East-leading Miami RedHawks (5-4) will face the Bowling Green Falcons (3-6) Wednesday night. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET from Fred C. Yager Stadium. We analyze the Bowling Green-Miami odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Bowling Green at Miami (Ohio): Three things you need to know

1. Bowling Green has been held to 10 or fewer points four times this season and has been shut out twice. The Falcons average only 17.6 points per game, which is 122nd in the country. They scored 35 points in their last game against Akron, though.

2. Miami has won four of its last five games with its only loss in that stretch coming against Western Michigan. The RedHawks averaged 24.8 points per game in their last five but just 22.7 on the year (107th).

3. Miami is 110th in the country with an average of 124.7 rushing yards per game, but it could take advantage of Bowling Green’s porous run defense. The Falcons are giving up 214.4 rushing yards per game this season, among the worst in college football.

Prediction

Miami 27, Bowling Green 17

Moneyline (ML)

The moneyline isn’t worth touching. Miami (-1250) is too heavy of a favorite to bet to win straight up, and it’s simply not worth the risk. The same goes for Bowling Green as the underdog at +590.

Bowling Green is 6-12 SU in its last 18 games against Miami, but 5-5 in the last 10 meetings. Still, it’s not worth putting any money here. Save it for the spread.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The RedHawks are favored by 18.5 points in this one and it’s easy to understand why. Bowling Green has really struggled this season despite turning things around slightly of late.

Miami has covered the spread in four of its last five games and is 7-1 in its last eight games against MAC opponents. It’s difficult to see the RedHawks covering 18.5 points this time around with an offense that hasn’t been lighting up the scoreboard. Take BOWLING GREEN (-110) and the points.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is 50.5 points and history says the total will go Over. In the last six games between these teams, the total has gone Over in five of them.

These offenses aren’t playing particularly well, though, so I’m inclined to take the UNDER (-110).

PFF Week 10 TOTW: Taylor Decker is NFL’s best LT in consecutive weeks

Pro Football Focus released their Week 10 Team of the Week and the Detroit Lions Taylor Decker repeats as the top left tackle in NFL.

The Detroit Lions were without Matthew Stafford in Week 10, turning to Jeff Driskel in Chicago. One of the main reasons Driskel had time to put together a solid outing was because of the performance of left tackle Taylor Decker.

Decker had a terrific outing in pass protection and gave the young quarterback plenty of opportunities to sit comfortably in the pocket and examine the field.

Decker’s performance didn’t go unnoticed and Pro Football Focus (PFF) named him as the week’s top left tackle in the NFL, placing him on their Week 10 Team of the Week. This is the second week in a row that Decker has been recognized by PFF on their TOTW.

“Decker earned a 74.3 overall grade and an 82.9 pass-blocking grade against Chicago on Sunday,” PFF’s Austin Gayle said, “allowing zero total pressures across 59 pass-blocking snaps in the process.”

Zero total pressures are a surefire way to help settle a young quarterback and Decker did all he could.

While Decker was the Lions’ highest-graded player on offense by PFF, Jarrad Davis was the team’s highest-graded defender.

Davis accomplished this by producing one of the best games of his career, on his lowest snap counts of the season. It appeared the Lions took some responsibilities off Davis’ plate — rookie Jahlani Tavai was relaying the defensive calls at times — and let him focus on just playing football and it paid dividends.

Georgia football’s defensive stats are absolutely nuts

These Georgia football defensive stats are literally nuts.

[jwplayer br8XgTUT-er0jUifI]

This Georgia defense is the best in the conference and it’s one of the NCAA’s elite defenses. In nine games this year, the defense has allowed a high of 17 points.

Here’s each game so far:

6, 17, 0, 17, 14, 13, 0, 17, 0.

Remember, in the South Carolina game Georgia’s defense actually only allowed 13 points. The Gamecocks got seven when they returned an interception back for a touchdown.

That’s three shutouts, and two of those came against SEC teams Kentucky and Missouri.

This defense is something special.

Saturday proved that again as Georgia held Missouri to 0 points, 198 total yards, 148 passing and 50 rushing.

In the fourth quarter, Georgia almost saw its nine game streak of no rushing touchdowns allowed come to a close. But the defense prevailed and not only did not allow a rushing score, but no score at all for that matter.

The passing defense could be cleaned up a little bit, but the Dawgs are still fine in that category, ranking 17th nationally.

A big part of Georgia’s solid passing defense can be credited to the run defense. Georgia takes away its opponents run game. It’s a sure thing. Basically, if you think you want to run the ball against Georgia, think again.

With the Dawgs being so stout against the run, teams are forced to throw it. And just because the Georgia pass defense is not as elite as its run defense, don’t take that secondary lightly. There are some big name players back there just waiting for you to throw it at them.

Compared to the rest of the SEC, there’s no questioning that Georgia has the conference’s best defense.

Just look at these stats and where they rank among the SEC and the nation.

10.1 points per game allowed (2nd nationally, 1st in the SEC)

260.3 total yards per game allowed (5th nationally, 1st in the SEC)

4.32 yards per played allowed (4th nationally, 1st in the SEC)

185.8 passing yards per game allowed (17th nationally, 3rd in the SEC)

5.6 yards per attempt (5th nationally, 2nd in the SEC)

74.5 rushing yards per game allowed (4th nationally, 1st in the SEC)

2.77 yards per carry allowed (4th nationally, 1st in the SEC)

29.6% opponent 3rd down conversion rate (11th nationally, 1st in the SEC)

57.14% opponent red zone score conversion rate (1st nationally, 1st in the SEC)

Ex-Redskins coaches, players have found massive success since leaving

A number of the top minds in the NFL were at once a part of the Redskins organization, but they’ve found success elsewhere.

“I wish there was actually a way to know you’re in the good old days before you actually left them.”

Andy Bernard — played by Ed Helms — said that on the Season 9 finale of “The Office” years ago, but it fits pretty well with how the Washington Redskins might feel just about now. While they are currently sitting with the second-worst record in the NFL, a look around the rest of the league shows numerous staffers, coaches, and players finding great success in new locations. Whether it’s a coach who used to be a coordinator in Washington or a GM who found a new team to manage, it seems that the Redskins franchise was exactly the jumping-off point that these guys needed to get their careers going.

In case you need help remembering who all of those future stars were they go as the following: Kyle Shanahan, Redskins OC; John Schneider, Redskins VP of Player Personnel; Matt LaFleur, Redskins QB coach; Kirk Cousins, Redskins QB; Sean McVay, Redskins OC.

All of them were at one point in the building, working to bring success to Washington. Now, they’ve been able to find success elsewhere, and the Redskins are still sitting at the bottom of the league, looking for the right answers. Here’s to hoping that the good old days are right around the corner.
