We keep waiting and waiting for the trade to finally happen to send Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. By the sounds of Packers president Mark Murphy, we may be waiting a little longer.
When asked about what’s going on with the trade negotiations and if there is any hold up, Murphy mostly stayed quiet, sharing simply “I can’t really get into that. I know [Packers general manager] Brian [Gutekunst] and [Jets general manager] Joe [Douglas] have been talking.”
Murphy added: “I’ve been actively involved. There’s nothing really more to say.”
Draft compensation continues to be the hold up. Perhaps the Packers are holding out hope that they can get the No. 13 pick from the Jets. There is also talk about compensation in case Rodgers does not play in 2024.
Both sides continue to hold their ground in discussions and there is no sure timeframe as to when this deal will get done. Ideally, the deal will get done before the first round of the draft on April 27, but there is no guarantee on that. The wait continues.
