Oklahoma starting TE Austin Stogner back for Cotton Bowl against Florida, been out since Kansas game

Oklahoma tight end Austin Stogner is making his return to action Wednesday night when the Sooners take on Florida in the Cotton Bowl.

Oklahoma is getting a big piece of their offense back.

Tight end Austin Stogner has been out since suffering an injury in the Kansas game all the way back on Nov. 7th. He will now make his return to the Sooners lineup this evening in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl against Florida.

On the year Stogner has caught 25 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns, becoming a really nice safety blanket for quarterback Spencer Rattler. His return to the lineup is understandably huge for the offense and it will be interesting to see how much of a role he will have in this first game back.

This news comes on the heels of the Gators being reportedly without several key defensive players including their leading tackler in linebacker Ventrell Miller. So while Florida’s defense has gotten thinner, Oklahoma’s offense has gotten stronger.

The Goodyear Cotton Bowl is set to get underway later this evening at 7:00 p.m. CT at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
