The national championship game has reached the half with a score if 35-17 as No. 1 Alabama holds the lead over No. 3 Ohio State.

As expected, this contest has been a back and forth, two strong offenses trading punches and trips to the endzone.

Ohio State started off with a brutal loss as starting running back Trey Sermon was injured on the first play of the game and transported to a local hospital with a shoulder injury.

Justin Fields has six completions on 15 attempts for 90 yards.

The run game has carried the Buckeyes offense, as Master Teague III has carried the ball 12 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

DeVonta Smith has more offensive production than the entire Ohio State team.

The Heisman-winning wide receiver caught a College Football Playoff record of 12 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns.

Mac Jones has completed 25 passes on 28 attempts for 343 yards and four touchdowns.

Crimson Tide running back Najee Harris has also put up solid numbers, mainly in the air, through the first two quarters with 11 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown, but caught five passes for 66 yards and a touchdown.
