Ohio State transfer TE Sam Hart gives commitment to CU Buffs

Sam Hart is coming home

Sam Hart is coming home.

After spending the first three years of his college career at Ohio State, the former Cherokee Trail High School (Aurora) star announced Friday that he’s transferring to Colorado.

Hart is a 6-foot-5, 255-pound tight end who played in only five games — all in 2022 — during his time with the Buckeyes. A former three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, Hart enrolled early at Ohio State in January 2021.

While at Cherokee Trail, his most productive season came in 2019 when he hauled in 31 catches for 562 yards and seven touchdowns. He also won the Class 5A 220-pound state wrestling title during that same junior year.

The expectation is that his run-blocking skills will be heavily utilized next season.

The Buffaloes’ tight ends room, now coached by Brett Bartolone, also picked up a commitment from Cincinnati transfer Chamon Metayer earlier this offseason.
