Ohio State softball loses in dramatic fashion to NC State in Raleigh

The Ohio State softball team lost a heartbreaker late on a walk-off homer by NC State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Friday.

After a successful first weekend of the year, the Ohio State softball team dropped the first game of its matchups in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge 5-3 Friday to NC State.

The Buckeyes actually got on the board first on a sacrifice fly followed by an RBI double by Claire Nicholson to make it 2-0. Things stayed scoreless until the top of the 6th inning when Avery Clark hit a home run to put OSU up 3-0.

But then things changed late.

The Wolfpack drew within one run after a homer in the bottom of the 6th inning, and after OSU was held scoreless in the top of the 7th, NC State put a couple of runners on. That’s when the Wolfpack’s Logan Morris smoked a three-run homer to walk it off in dramatic fashion.

With the loss, Ohio State falls to 3-2 on the season and will back in action tomorrow, taking on Notre Dame at 10 AM, followed by a rematch with NC State at 12:30 PM.
