Ohio State Punter Jesse Mirco enters transfer portal

Perhaps a bit unexpected? #GoBucks

Friday night was a rough one for Buckeye fans as Ohio State lost 14-3 to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl. Unfortunately, now the list of players to enter the transfer portal has expanded with the Buckeye punter entering on Saturday night.

Jesse Mirco was very busy on Friday night with the Buckeyes’ offensive struggles recording a career-high eight punts. The junior punter has started for the Buckeyes in each of the last three seasons averaging 43.9 yards per punt with a net average of 40.7 yards over his career.

This decision is a little curious because of how seldom we see punters enter the portal. Could it indicate that Ohio State is moving on from special teams coordinator, Parker Fleming, who has received a lot of criticism from Buckeye fans after the struggles on special teams in his two seasons in the role?

We’ll just have to wait and see.
