Ohio State offensive lineman Thayer Munford will return for 2021 season

Munford coming back to Ohio State is a huge boost for the Buckeyes and their offensive line. He announced his decision Saturday.

Thayer Munford has been a mainstay on the Ohio State offensive line for the past several years. And he has been a good one. After returning for his senior year, most thought Munford would head to the NFL, including our writers here at Buckeyes Wire.

Instead, in a somewhat surprising move, the OSU left tackle announced on Twitter that he would return to “finish what he started.”

This is a huge win for the Buckeyes and the offensive line. Munford has tons of experience as a three-year starter, and he even played in games as a true freshman in 2017.

Munford shared it was heartbreaking to get so close to the national championship trophy only to see other teams lift it up. He also stated he wanted to get his college degree before he leaves, a promise he made to himself and his family.

It would be easy to leave college for NFL riches, as Munford was projected as high as a third- to fourth-round draft pick. But you have to respect a young man who made a promise and intends to keep it.
