Ohio State legacy football player and Notre Dame transfer to take visit to Columbus

Would you like to see this legacy Buckeye make his way to Columbus? #GoBucks

In the brave new world of college football, the transfer portal appears to be a very big part of the game and is here to stay. So, get used to a slew of players moving from program to program even across the bluest of the blue bloods.

Such is the case with Notre Dame linebacker, Lorenzo Styles Jr. He was a five-star defensive back and four-star receiver when he committed to the Fighting Irish for the 2021 class. However, he is in the transfer portal and looking for a new home after modest success as a wide receiver in his first two years in South Bend.

If you recognize that name, maybe you remember his father, Lorenzo Styles, who was a first team All-Big Ten performer at linebacker while at Ohio State from 1992 to 1994. His other son, Sonny, is a budding young star at safety for the Buckeyes.

According to Clay Hall of the ABC affiliate in Columbus, Styles Jr. is expected to visit Ohio State as one of the schools he is entertaining transferring to.

It’s unknown if Styles would be a good fit in Columbus. The Buckeyes are over the scholarship limit, seem set at wide receiver and look much improved in the secondary. However, if defense is where Styles can fit in, it would be hard to pass up and you’d have to think the OSU coaches would try to get creative to see what they can do.

We’ll stay on top of any further developments as they occur.
