Ohio State in the running to add 4-star linebacker to 2021 class

Four-star linebacker Raesjon Davis has decommitted from LSU and the Buckeyes are back in play. Can OSU land the highly coveted prospect?

The future looks bright in Columbus, and it could be getting brighter. Last week, Ohio State signed what looks to be one of the best recruiting classes in Buckeye football history. And there may be more to come.

Raesjon Davis is the No. 4 outside linebacker and No. 48 player overall, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Davis received offers from a boatload of power five schools, but ultimately made a commitment to Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers on Jan. 1 of 2020.

Despite other recruits decommitting from the Tigers amid a rough year in Baton Rouge, Davis had stayed true… until yesterday when he announced via Twitter that he, too, was stepping back from his commitment to explore his options.

Experts believe the race is down to two teams, Ohio State and USC, for Davis’ services. He was supposed to make an official visit to Columbus on Dec. 12 for the Michigan game, which of course did not happen. He has, however, been to Columbus on a couple of occasions.

With just under two months until signing day, anything can happen. But if the Buckeyes can land Davis and highly coveted defensive endĀ J.T. Tuimoloau, an already special class gets that much better, and could finish ahead of Alabama for the top-rated class in the country.
