Ohio State defensive tackle Tommy Togiai makes surprising NFL decision

Ohio State defensive tackle Tommy Togiai announced his decision on his future at Ohio State and plans for the NFL on Monday evening.

I have to admit, I didn’t see this one coming. Not that Ohio State defensive tackle Tommy Togiai doesn’t have the skills to be successful at the next level, I just thought he’d want to come back and build upon what he showed this year and improve his draft stock.

That being said, Togiai announced his declaration for the 2021 NFL draft on Monday evening through his Twitter account.

The 6-foot, 2-inches, 300-pounder out of Idaho had a bit of a breakout season, albeit an abbreviated one. He was a key force in the middle of the line that helped Ohio State become one of the best defenses against the run in 2020. As a junior, he had one more year of eligibility left, but felt that now was the time to take his talents to the next level.

He took to Twitter to thank many that helped him along this journey.

It’ll be interesting to see where Togiai lands on some of the NFL draft big boards over the next few months as he prepares for the next level. But of course, we wish nothing but the best for him. He will be missed.
