Ohio State baseball’s Seth Lonsway named National Pitcher of the Week

Ohio State pitcher Seth Lonsway was named by many national media outlets to a slew of player of the week honors.

The Ohio State baseball team is making moves, winning four in a row to sweep the Indiana Hoosiers last weekend. It quickly vaulted the Buckeyes from the middle of the pack into third place, just one and a half games behind leader Nebraska, and just one back of rival Michigan.

It was a team effort over the weekend, but one of those games was a total, dominant effort by left-handed starter Seth Lonsway. Against the Hoosiers last Saturday, the junior struck out a ridiculous 17 hitters in a complete game, seven-inning, two-hit, shoutout performance. Amazingly, only four of the game’s outs did not come by strikeout.

With that performance, Lonsway was recognized by several national media outlets as either the National Pitcher of the Week, or the National Player of the Week. Those sites were Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of The Week, D1Baseball National Player of the Week, NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week and Perfect Game/Rawlings Pitcher of the Week.

Have a game Seth. Ohio State has a big, big three-game series this weekend against the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Let’s hope the Bucks can keep rollin’.
