Ohio State baseball wins the series finale 10-5 over UConn

The baseball Buckeyes even up their record

The[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] baseball team got a win early this afternoon over UConn, 10-5, to even their early season record at 2-2.

The Buckeyes got off to a shaky start. Starter [autotag]Gavin Bruni[/autotag] gave up two earned runs in the top of the first, three total. He would last just 3.1 innings but the OSU bats got going before Bruni left.

Four singles in the bottom of the third put Ohio State up 3-2, but Bruni’s unearned run would tie the game back up.

The Buckeye bats once again got going, this time in the bottom of the fifth, with the big hit being a double by [autotag]Matthew Graveline[/autotag], scoring two. OSU would put up a five-spot and add two more in the 8th to get to their final tally of 10.

It can be said that the opening series was a success, given the level of the opponent and the fact that they were able to check off multiple boxes over the course of the weekend.

First, head coach [autotag]Bill Mosiello[/autotag] got his first win, along with the team’s first of the season. Second, they got their first road trip out of the way.

The Buckeyes are back on the road Thursday evening, as they travel to Phoenix, Arizona, for two games each against Grand Canyon University and Gonzaga, alternating opponents each day.
