Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith talks COVID-19 and return to athletics

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith met with media members via teleconference Wednesday and provide a status on return to play.

In case you missed it, Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith was made available to select members of the media on Wednesday. It came on the heels of reports that OSU was in the midst of planning for football athletes to return to campus on June 8.

That all was of course contingent upon the NCAA vote to allow on-campus activities as of June 1 later in the day. That was a positive, and now will likely set off a chain of events with how Ohio State frames things to safely get back to workouts, and ultimately a plan for potentially holding real, live college football games this fall.

If you didn’t get to listen to what Smith had to say, we have his entire comments during the Q&A session thanks to the YouTube Channel of Lori Schmidt. Click on the below and listen to the OSU AD discuss the potential of fans at games, the measures that would have to be put in place, the slow return to organized workouts, and more.
