Offensive linemen and the curse of the No. 2 pick

Take a look at some offensive linemen who were selected second overall in the NFL draft but failed to live up to expectations.

2009: Jason Smith, 2nd overall pick by St. Louis Rams

The Rams made Smith their top choice in the 2009 NFL draft, hoping he would be the cornerstone of their offensive line for years to come. Unfortunately, Smith was a bust and a costly one at that. The Rams signed the rookie to a six-year deal worth up to $62 million (this was before the NFL rookie wage scale was implemented). Smith lasted just three seasons in St. Louis before being traded away to the New York Jets prior to the 2012 season. He lasted just one season in New York before being released.
