Odell Beckham Jr. to Saquon Barkley: Tell Joe Schoen to call my agent

Odell Beckham tweeted Saquon Barkley on Thursday, telling him to have New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen call his agent.

Despite adding several pieces at the position in recent days, the New York Giants do not appear finished addressing their needs at wide receiver.

One connection that just won’t fade is that of former first-round pick, Odell Beckham Jr. The Giants met with OBJ last year, contacted his agent at the NFL combine, and then later attended his public workout in Arizona.

Although some suggestions have been made that the Giants are out of the Beckham hunt, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reported otherwise on Thursday evening.

“Hey Giants fans, guess what? They’re still in the mix for Odell Beckham,” Leonard said.

Beckham himself added a little more fuel to the fire shortly after that report, tweeting at running back Saquon Barkley and telling him to have Giants general manager Joe Schoen call his agent.

Beckham followed that tweet 30 minutes later implying that one team — not necessarily the Giants — was shortchanging him in negotiations.

Given how the wide receiver market fell short of expectations, Beckham is undoubtedly frustrated by what’s being offered. And if his last tweet was about the Giants, it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise because Schoen is out there looking for bargains. He’s refrained from making disastrous deals similar to his predecessor, Dave Gettleman, despite having more money to spend this offseason.

With several bodies added at wide receiver and a plethora of needs still remaining, it’s unlikely the Giants would drop a big-money contract on Beckham but improbable doesn’t necessarily mean impossible.
