No. 2 Texas caps off the sweep against Incarnate Word with a 12-0 win

No. 2 Texas outscored Incarnate Word 41-4 over the weekend.

Getting back home helped No. 2 Texas get some of its mojo back in a major way. The Longhorns bounced back from a 2-3 road trip in South Carolina with a three-game sweep of Incarnate Word.

Texas flexed its muscle with a dominant performance in all facets of the game, outscoring the Cardinals 41-4 in the sweep.

Murphy Stehly was a man on a mission all weekend. He hit four home runs including three on Sunday’s series finale. Stehly leads the team with a whopping .443 batting average.

Ivan Melendez stayed hot himself as he belted home run No. 9 on the young season with this shot over the left-center field wall.

On a weekend where Texas swung the bats at an elite level, the biggest development for Texas may have come on the mound.

Sophomore lefty Lucas Gordon had the best start of his Texas career. Gordon went seven shutout innings on an efficient 80 pitches. He commanded the strike zone well and kept the game on the ground on a windy day at the park.

This was the final tune-up weekend series before Big 12 conference play begins next week. Texas will travel to Lubbock to take on a tough Texas Tech squad.
