Texas was a double-digit point favorite over the TCU Horned Frogs on Oct. 3 in Austin.
That didn’t come to fruition, Texas suffered their first heartbreak of the season. Although it was an unexpected conference loss, the season is still young and there’s no time to panic. Two of the Big 12’s powerhouse teams are set to meet each other at the Cotton Bowl on Oct. 10 for the Red River Rivalry.
It will either be Oklahoma’s third straight conference loss or Texas will drop two in a row. It’s now a must-win game for both programs.
Let’s shift gears and focus on positive news surrounding a few of Texas’ key players this season. Head coach Tom Herman has a roster full of potential NFL talent right now.
The 2021 NFL Draft is still months away, but left tackle Samuel Cosmi and safety Caden Sterns are widely projected to be selected within the first two rounds. This is quite the improvement over the 2020 NFL Draft, where safety Brandon Jones was the first Texas player taken off of the board in the third round.
We’ve compiled a roundup of the latest NFL Mock Drafts to determine where each of these players could land. If you remember the projections from national media outlets last year with wide receiver Devin Duvernay, many draft analysts mocked him to the Baltimore Ravens in the third round and that’s exactly how it played out.
It’s not to say that mock drafts are flawless, but it’s certainly worth noting the particular interest that NFL organizations are rumored to have with each player as April inches closer.
