NFL Free Agency: Potential landing spots for former Oklahoma RB Adrian Peterson

As free agency approaches, here is a look at possible landing spots for future Hall of Fame running back, Adrian Peterson.

They say in the NFL that there is a shelf life for running backs with the hits sustained over the years for every-down backs. Despite his many accomplishments over a 14-year NFL career, future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson wants another shot at a Super Bowl ring.

The former Oklahoma Sooner signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions days before the 2020 season kicked off. Peterson accumulated 156 attempts for 604 rushing yards and seven touchdowns with the Lions last year. The 35-year-old is a free agent and has a preference of his next destination in the league – the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Peterson spoke to TMZ via Pro Football Talk and noted, “Playing with Tom Brady, that by itself is enticing.”

He described suiting up for the Bucs would “definitely be something I’m interested in.”

Peterson played under current Buccaneers head coach, Bruce Arians in 2017 when he played for the Arizona Cardinals. It would be a reunion if Peterson joined the roster of the Super Bowl champs. He is not getting any younger and believes the surest and quickest way to get the iconic ring is to take the handoff from Tom Brady.

The seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro running back has certainly built a resume that entices but his age could be a drawback for some teams. Not to mention, that he publicly broadcasted the franchise he wants to be a part of. Bidding for his services can begin on March 17 when the new league year and the 2021 free agency period officially begin.
