NFL comparisons for the four drafted Badgers

NFL draft season is full of aimless comparisons with every quarterback coming out of college being projected as the next Tom Brady…

NFL comp: Lorenzo Alexander

Baun’s greatest strength is his versatile ability to rush the passer, play the run, drop into coverage and play all over the field on defense.

While he isn’t coming to the NFL with the physical features of Clowney, Miller or Myles Garrett, his skillset points towards a long, productive career, one which we obviously know is beginning in New Orleans.

This is why his perfect comparison is Lorenzo Alexander.

Alexander has a nearly-identical build to Baun and after starting out as an undrafted free agent he went on to play in 13 NFL seasons with two Pro Bowl selections and was named to one second team All-Pro team.

The sack production wasn’t amazing for Alexander, 33 total in 13 seasons. But what he was able to do on a consistent basis, especially towards the end of his career, is record tackles, tackles-for-loss and quarterback hits and produce in a meaningful way as a starter on defense.

This is what I see for Baun. Not necessarily T.J. Watt-like sack numbers but production in many facets of the game and a presence as a consistent cog in the Saints defense or elsewhere for many years.
