Mock Draft Monday: Texas Longhorns roundup

On a mock draft Monday, three seven-round mock drafts are observed to find out where former Texas Longhorns could wind up next week.

In the final mock draft observed, Neal Driscoll has his latest seven-rounder for Pro Football Network. This is the only one of the three that have all five Longhorns slated to be selected. Also the first that has safety Brandon Jones sliding all the way into the latter part of day three. He has been habitually mocked in the latter part of day two.

3.91: Devin Duvernay Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders just added Nelson Agholor to their receiving group that features Hunter Renfrow and Tyrell Williams. Duvernay provides some competition for Renfrow in the slot but also gives Derek Carr another weapon as he tries to get the Raiders back on track.

5.152: Brandon Jones Carolina Panthers

In the fifth round Brandon Jones goes to the Carolina Panthers who are in need of help on the back end of their defense. The team currently has TJ Green slotted as the starter at strong safety but Jones could overtake him with a strong training camp provided it is able to start on time.

6. 197: Collin Johnson Indianapolis Colts

The Colts will have a new quarterback in Phillip Rivers at the helm in 2020. Collin Johnson comes in as a legitimate “X” receiver for that offense. Coupled with T.Y. Hilton, they have a duo that could help make some noise in the AFC South that will be highly competitive with the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans.

6. 213: Malcolm Roach New England Patriots

The Patriots always seem to find the diamonds in the rough in the latter part of the NFL Draft. They could do it once again with Malcolm Roach heading to Foxboro. He likely steps in on special teams and a rotational spot among the front three at either end spot.

7. 245: Zack Shackelford San Francisco 49ers

Zack Shackelford would head out west to the San Francisco 49ers to play for former Longhorns wide receiver now head coach Kyle Shanahan. He would be a bottom of the roster addition with an opportunity to find a way to make the team as a backup offensive lineman.
