Jayden Daniels describes the whirlwind of winning the Heisman Trophy

Jayden Daniels said winning the Heisman has been a life-changing experience.

In his final season at LSU, quarterback [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] became just the third Tiger in program history — and first since [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] in 2019 — to win the Heisman Trophy.

Daniels is heading to the NFL draft where he’s widely viewed as a top-10 pick and one of the best signal-callers available. He opted out of the ReliaQuest Bowl to prepare for the draft, but he made the trip to Tampa to support his teammates on Monday.

While speaking to the ESPN2 crew on the sideline, Daniels described what the last three weeks have been like since he won the Heisman.

“It’s been a blessing but it also been crazy,” Daniels said, per On3. “Everybody is trying to talk to me and stuff like that. People were telling me my life would change after winning that trophy. I’m just blessed to be a part of a fraternity like that.

“The coolest thing I’ve done was just being able to meet different people that I never thought I’d meet before, like Ja Morant. I was able to meet Jerry Rice, just people that I never thought I’d be able to meet.”

Daniels’ stock wasn’t particularly high as a transfer from Arizona State, but he has completely revitalized his career during his two years at LSU, which he said he will always be grateful for.

“It means a lot,” Daniels said. “It’s really changed the trajectory of my life and others too. To be able to come here and meet some of my closest friends and just really be bless — God put me in a position like this.”

Daniels is listed as high as QB3 on some draft big boards, and he should be a lock to go in the first round.
