Mike Tomlin on Steelers effort: ‘Looking to strike a blow for team’

Mike Tomlin understands how important playing together is for this group.

Everyone on both sidelines knew how shorthanded the Pittsburgh Steelers were on Sunday. The Cleveland Browns went into the game hoping to sweep the season series and take advantage of Pittsburgh being without their top skill players. But as head coach Mike Tomlin talked about in the postgame press conference, it was team that carried the day in spite of the absences.

The day was carried by guys like Devlin Hodges, James Washington and Benny Snell Jr. instead of Ben Roethlisberger, JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Conner. But thanks to some impressive coaching and enormous effort but every Steeler on the field, Pittsburgh keeps their improbable comeback from an 0-3. Pittsburgh continues to win despite the lack of star power on offense but plenty of weapons on defense.

Next up for the Steelers is a long road trip to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. If the Steelers can keep winning in these final four games and make the playoffs it will be one of the rarest accomplishments in league history.
