IndyCar denies Indianapolis 500 entry promoting Donald Trump, RFK Jr.

The NTT IndyCar Series has denied an Indianapolis 500 entry with the intention of promoting Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest motorsports event of the year, and the hype is already building. On May 26, Kyle Larson will attempt “The Double” with the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600, which has created heightened expectations for the event. Going into the biggest race of 2024, IndyCar has drawn a line when it comes to sponsorship.

According to RACER’s Marshall Pruett, IndyCar denied an entry request with the intention of “promoting both Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former president Donald Trump on the car’s bodywork.” It is unclear which driver and team were denied this request. This comes as the 2024 Presidential Election is set to take place in November.

According to IndyCar in a statement through RACER, “IndyCar does not approve sponsorships associated with elected officials, candidates for political office or political action committees.” The Indianapolis 500 is one of the biggest sporting events of the entire year, rivaling the Super Bowl in terms of overall popularity.
