Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer highlighted among best NFL defensive ‘duos’ by PFF

Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer highlighted among best NFL defensive ‘duos’ by PFF:

Buffalo Bills safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer are in a league of their own. Quite literally they were in one exercise from Pro Football Focus.

The football analytics outlet put together the NFL’s top-five “duos” on both offense and defense. Hyde and Poyer appear on the defensive list.

Not only that, the Bills pair stands out for another reason. PFF’s list is not ranked one to five, just a generalized grouping.

Within the five named on defense, Hyde and Poyer differ because they’re the only duo that’s not a tandem of pass rushers. All four of the other ones are.

Not only does PFF think enough of the two to place them on their ranking, they buck the entire trend of the topic.

Of course, this brings Poyer’s contract situation to light. But for now, here’s why PFF felt so strongly about them:

Hyde and Poyer are among the most underrated safety duos in the NFL. The two’s WAR totals each ranked top 15 in 2021, and they both posted 86.0-plus coverage grades last season. With another year in Leslie Frazier’s defense, expect more great things from this talented secondary pairing.
