Day two of the 2020 NFL Draft could be a significant moment for the Texas trio of safety Brandon Jones and wide receivers Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson.
While some mock drafts do not project a Longhorn to be selected until day three, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller has high hopes for all three of the highest-rated prospects out of Austin to be selected on Friday night.
Miller is a well-respected NFL draft analyst who has a great feel for each player’s draft stock and their connections to certain organizations. Although the first round has concluded with several high-profile names, the second and third rounds are typically where teams are built.
Let’s take a look at where each Longhorn is now projected to land below.
Devin Duvernay, WR
- Round 3
- No. 93 overall selection
- Tennessee Titans
Brandon Jones, S
- Round 3
- No. 105 overall selection
- Minnesota Vikings
Collin Johnson, WR
- Round 3
- No. 106 overall selection
- Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have been linked to several receivers throughout the 2020 NFL Draft, including both Duvernay and Johnson. It’s clear that they want to acquire a playmaker to compliment Marquise Brown.
While there was not a single safety drafted on Thursday night, there could be a run at the position in round two. If so, this could bump Jones’ draft stock into round three.
