Alabama quarterback Mac Jones has several goals for this season: prove he’s more than capable of being a winning starting quarterback, help his team return to the College Football Playoff, and help his teammates shine this season. But before any of that happens, there has to be a season.
And Alabama’s Mac Jones is one of many players who have taken to social media using the hashtag #WeWantToPlay in hopes of persuading the NCAA to let there be a season, even if it’s only a few conferences like the SEC, ACC, and Big 12.
On Monday, Jones tweeted a heartfelt message that had a simple message: He and his teammates are committed to playing this season. They want to play.

There’s no denying the 2019 football season didn’t go as hoped or planned for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and this season is a redemption year.
Not only did they not make it to the College Football Playoff for the first time in its existence, but they also lost their star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to a season-ending injury, and lost the majority of their experienced starters on defense throughout the season as well.
That didn’t stop the Crimson Tide, especially Mac Jones, who finished the season 3-1 as a starter.
In his first career start against Arkansas for an injured Tagovailoa (ankle), Jones went 18-22 for 235 yards and 3 TDs.
Against Western Carolina, Jones only played in the first half, going 10-12 for 275 yards and 3 TDs.
His last start of the regular season was against Auburn. Although the Tide lost, Jones emerged as even more of a leader. Even after throwing two costly interceptions, Jones regained his composure and finished with 335 yards passing, 4 TDs and 2 INTs.
And against Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, Jones showed up and showed out. He completed 16 of 25 passes for 327 yards and 3 TDs against 15th-ranked Michigan.
By end of the season, Jones had a quarterback rating (186.8) that ranks as the highest of any returning signal-caller (minimum four starts) in the SEC for 2020, which is amazing considering his only four starts were this past season.
Jones also finished the season with 1,503 yards passing, 14 TDs, and 3 INTs.
If given the chance to play this season, there’s no doubt this season will be better for both, Jones and the Crimson Tide.
