After dropping their first SEC series of the year last weekend, the Tigers decided not to play with their food in Game 1 against Mississippi State.

LSU drew first blood and scored four runs in the first two innings as [autotag]Gavin Dugas[/autotag], [autotag]Brayden Jobert[/autotag], and [autotag]Jordan Thompson[/autotag] all hit homers to get the Tigers out to a 5-0 lead.

The game stayed that way until the top of the sixth inning when the Bulldogs scored their only run of the game on a solo homer to left field off of [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag]. LSU answered that run with three of their own as [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] walked with bases loaded, [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] hit an RBI single, and [autotag]Cade Beloso[/autotag] hit a sacrifice fly to score [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag] and make it 8-1 LSU.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, LSU scored four more runs as they secured a run-rule victory in Game 1 by a 12-1 clip. Morgan hit a two-RBI single and White followed that with a two-run homer to walk it off.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. CT at Alex Box Stadium.
