Analyzing Tuesday’s Los Angeles Kings at Edmonton Oilers Game 5 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Kings and the Edmonton Oilers shift their series back to Edmonton Tuesday for Game 5 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. The series is tied 2-2. Puck drop from Rogers Place is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kings vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Oilers evened the series with a 5-4 overtime victory Sunday in Game 4. The Kings had fired out to a 3-0 lead after the 1st period and appeared to be on their way to taking a commanding 3-1 series lead. The Oilers had other ideas in the 2nd period, however, as D Evan Bouchard struck on the power play and C Leon Draisaitl struck at even strength before adding the tying goal with the man advantage in the waning seconds of the period.

Kings D Mathieu Roy beat G Jack Campbell early in the 3rd period to give L.A. another lead. Campbell had replaced G Stuart Skinner after the opening frame. Oilers LW Evander Kane struck late in regulation to force overtime.

LW Zach Hyman netted the game-winning goal at 10:39 of overtime with a helper from Bouchard to draw the series even. We’ll now see how the Kings respond after the emotional loss.

Kings at Oilers projected goalies

Joonas Korpisalo (18-14-4, 2.87 GAA, .915 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Jack Campbell (21-9-4, 3.41 GAA, .888 SV%, 1 SO – regular season)

Korpisalo was on the short end of the 5-4 OT loss, kicking aside 37 of the 42 shots he faced. He was unable to hold the 3-0 lead he was staked through 20 minutes and was even given a brief one-goal lead in the 3rd period, but again coughed it up.

Campbell came on in relief of Skinner and turned aside 27 of the 28 shots he faced in his first appearance since April 5 at the Anaheim Ducks in the regular season. Campbell had won his final 4 starts of the regular season, all against non-playoff teams.

Campbell allowed 2 goals on 13 shots in relief on Jan. 9 in Los Angeles in a 6-3 setback.

Kings at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Kings 3

Moneyline

The Oilers (-225) have to feel great about their comeback in Los Angeles in Game 4. Edmonton was staring into the abyss, facing a 3-1 series lead.

While Edmonton has the momentum heading home, you can’t risk more than 2 times your potential return. We have had overtime in 3 of the first 4 games in this series, so expect another close game.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The KINGS +1.5 (-135) are a solid play on the puck line. While I am expecting the Oilers to eke out the Game 5 win, pushing Los Angeles to the brink, I wouldn’t be surprised to see yet another overtime game. Only 1 of the first 4 games in this series has been decided in regulation.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-115) is the lean in Game 5.

We had a total of 9 goals in Game 4, and we should get some more fire-wagon hockey in this pivotal game. In Game 1 in Edmonton, he had a total of 7 goals, and an average of 6.5 goals per game in the first 2 battles at Rogers Place. I expect to see this one inch across the finish line for an Over, too.
