Looking at the Big 12 picture after Texas’ bye week

How the Big 12 standings changed after Texas’ bye week.

The Texas Longhorns enjoyed a much needed bye in Week 7.

After the loss to Oklahoma, Texas dropped six spots to No. 9 in the country in the AP Poll. However, the Big 12 championship game is still in the picture.

Fortunately for the Longhorns, some other Big 12 teams are making the path a bit easier, as Texas still controls most of their destiny.

Following Houston’s last-second win over West Virginia, Texas won’t have to worry about a tie-breaker scenario forcing the Horns with the short end of the stick.

Going forward, Texas just needs to win out and put themselves in a position for a rematch against Oklahoma in Arlington, should the Sooners win out as well.

Here is how the Big 12 title race is looking following Saturday’s slate of games without the Longhorns playing.
