Longhorns Profile Snapshot: No. 5 Bijan Robinson

LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the UT roster. Today, we will be looking at freshman RB Bijan Robinson.

Going into the 2020 football season, LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster.

Over the summer, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Tom Herman this season.

Today, we will be looking at true freshman running back Bijan Robinson.

Bijan Robinson, Running Back

Height: 6-0 / Weight: 200

Class: Freshman

Hometown: Tuscon, Arizona

High School: Salpointe Catholic

HS ranking (247Sports): Five-star / No. 21 overall / No. 1 position / No. 2 in-state

HS ranking (Rivals): Five-star / No. 18 overall / No. 1 position / No. 2 in-state

Analysis: Since 247Sports started rating recruits in 2000, only two out of state players who signed a national letter of intent with Texas have been higher rated than Bijan Robinson. Now Arizona Cardinals linebacker Jordan Hicks signed with the Longhorns in 2010, while Bru McCoy originally signed to Texas, only to transfer to USC in the summer of 2019.

While he was not an early enrollee, Robinson should be able to prove his worth during summer and fall practice. The freshman could contribute to the offense right away, even if Keaontay Ingram and Roschon Johnson are currently ahead of him on the depth chart. His physicality, elusiveness, and speed make him one of the most special prospects Tom Herman has ever had.

Unlike going into the 2019 season, running back will not be a question for Texas in 2020. As long as Robinson is in Austin, the Longhorns have a star waiting to burst out on to the scene. Even if the ball does not get rolling this season, Robinson will still have three more years to show his worth.
