Lakers waive Scotty Pippen Jr. and two other players

The Lakers have decided to waive guard Scotty Pippen Jr. and two other players as they prepare for the start of the regular season.

The Los Angeles Lakers are moving toward the start of the 2023-24 regular season, which they hope will be very successful and serve as a lead-in to their 18th NBA championship.

They have played five preseason games so far. Although they’re only 2-3 in those contests, they have shown quite a bit of promise, especially on the offensive end of the court.

Head coach Darvin Ham has played his rookies and young players quite a bit in the second halves of these games, particularly in the fourth quarter. After getting a look at them several times, the team decided to waive three: guard Scotty Pippen Jr, guard Damon Baugh and forward Vincent Valerio-Bodon (h/t Lakers Daily).

Pippen received quite a bit of playing time on Sunday versus the Milwaukee Bucks. He shot 2-of-9 from the field and 4-of-9 from the free-throw line, but he showed great effort and hustle. The son of Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen finished with six assists, four rebounds and three steals.
