No. 11 Tennessee (2-2) defeated Rutgers (3-2), 94-54, Saturday in the Bad Boy Mowers Women’s Battle 4 Atlantis at Imperial Arena in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
The Lady Vols never trailed against Rutgers. and had a
Tennessee led, 22-15, at the end of the first quarter before seizing control of the contest with a 30-13 second-quarter run.
Tennessee led Rutgers by as many as 54 points and had four players record double figures in the scoring column.
Rickea Jackson led the Lady Vols with 26 points, including 18 before halftime. She recorded six rebounds and three assists.
Jasmine Powell and Jordan Horston scored 12 points each. Powell recorded eight assists and Horston finished with four assists in her return to Tennessee’s lineup after missing a game due to injury.
Marta Suárez finished the contest with 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Vols advance to the tournament semifinals. Tennessee will play the winner of Saturday’s game between UCLA and South Dakota State.
