During the BYU vs. Houston football game, ESPN commentator and former Heisman winning quarterback, Andre Ware made a somewhat bold statement. In naming his top five quarterback prospects for the NFL, he ranked Justin Fields No. 4 behind Zach Wilson of BYU and Kyle Trask of Florida.
Basically, since early in the 2019 season, pretty much every respected college and pro football analyst has had Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Fields as the top two draft-eligible QBs in 2021. Apparently Andre Ware is going for shock value.
To be fair, both Wilson and Trask are putting up solid numbers this season. In just three games, Trask has thrown for 996 yards with 14 touchdowns to only 1 interception while facing SEC competition.
Wilson has thrown for 1,641 yards and 12 touchdowns to just 1 interception along with 6 rushing TDs through five games — although BYU’s opponents have been somewhat lackluster.
Unless Justin Fields had his throwing arm amputated in the offseason I’m gonna go with him over Zach Wilson and Kyle Trask pic.twitter.com/vxKUvw5l6U

Maybe Ware was enamored with Wilson as BYU took Ware’s alma matter, Houston, to the woodshed on Friday night. Wilson torched the Cougar defense for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.
I know Justin Fields hasn’t played a down as of yet this season, however, I feel fairly confident in saying if the 2021 NFL Draft were to take place tomorrow, Fields would most assuredly hear his name called before Ware’s picks.
Take it for what it is Buckeye fans… a former player trying to make a name for himself as an analyst with an offbeat opinion.
