The Texas football program is in a downward spiral right now.
Simply put, everything is crumbling around them.
Texas faces a must-win game against the sixth-ranked team in the nation on Saturday in order to keep their Big 12 title hopes alive. However, a win at this point will go much further off the field.
The Longhorns seemingly face a new issue each week. Prior to the crucial matchup in Stillwater against Oklahoma State, two highly-ranked in-state recruits chose to decommit from Texas.
Can you blame them?
Uncertainty continues to surround head coach Tom Herman’s future in Austin. He’s been criticized for his handling of the ‘Eyes of Texas’ saga, his ability to land highly rated prospects from the state and the player development within the program is non-existent.

Throughout Herman’s tenure in at Texas, consistency has been a notable issue. Herman is fielding an undisciplined squad that commits bonehead penalties and turnovers in each contest. After losing back-to-back games to conference opponents, Herman’s seat began to heat up.
It’s now on fire.
FOX Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt recently joined The Ticket (1310 AM/96.7 FM) in Dallas with “The Hardline” hosts Corby Davidson and Bob Sturm to reiterate the significance of Texas’ matchup with Oklahoma State.
“I’ve been told by people very much in the know that COVID or not, the money is there and this needs to turn around. I’ve got to tell you, “turning it around” means winning this weekend. Wink, wink.”
It’s no secret that Texas has the money to make a major coaching change. Athletic director Chris Del Conte prefers proven head coaches and isn’t scared to swing big to get the top name in the market.
Texas isn’t producing on the field and their recruiting department continues to bleed out. How long can you let this go on?
If the Longhorns lose to the Cowboys on Halloween, rumors surrounding Urban Meyer becoming the next head coach at Texas will certainly gain traction.
