Ja’Marr Chase says injured shoulder won’t require surgery

Ja’Marr Chase talks about the possibility of surgery.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase provided some important details about his shoulder injury before the Week 18 game against the Cleveland Browns.

The star wideout revealed that his injured AC joint will not require surgery.

Meaning, Chase expects time off to heal and strengthen the area to get him at 100 percent by next season, per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Chase spoke on a wide range of topics mid-week, such as the possibility of a contract extension for Tee Higgins and how he feels about his own contract situation — he’s eligible for an extension for the first time this summer.

But the small nugget about Chase avoiding surgery is arguably the biggest point of all from all the chatter. Were he headed for offseason surgery after playing through the injury in the finale, it would make his full return timetable tough to gauge.

As it stands now, Chase will play against the Browns, then step back and get right for next season.
