Jake Hausmann claimed by Giants off waivers

Jake Hausmann will get another shot, this time in the Big Apple!

We’ve got another former Ohio State football player that’s getting another crack in training camp. According to an announcement on Twitter by the New York Giants, they have claimed former OSU tight end, Jake Hausmann, off waivers.

Hausmann had been camping with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent signing after the 2021 NFL draft but was waived on Friday. He was known as a great blocker for the Buckeyes but was seldom used in the passing attack, catching just three passes and one touchdown during his career in Columbus.

He’ll now have to show that he can contribute in New York as a likely specialist. Make no mistake — it’ll be an uphill climb. Hausmann joins Mike Weber and Austin Mack as former Ohio State players in the Big Apple.

We wish Hausmann good luck. It wouldn’t be the first time a seldom-used tight end came out of the OSU program to carve out a niche in the NFL if he can work his way through all the muck.
